Job Overview: A law firm in Reston, VA, is seeking a skilled Real Estate Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction contracting and development and provide both transactional and litigation support across various industry sectors.

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate design, construction, and development agreements in multiple industry sectors.
  • Negotiate EPC contracts for extensive infrastructure and energy projects.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients on claims management, change orders, extra work claims, delays, and construction defect claims.
  • Support construction litigation and arbitration proceedings, including drafting pleadings, discovery, and motions and preparing for depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with clients, colleagues, and third parties.
  • Produce timely and high-quality work products, ensuring accuracy and deadline adherence.
  • Foster positive working relationships within the firm and with external stakeholders.
  • Comply with firm policies and practices, maintaining ethical standards and professionalism.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction contracting and related development experience.
  • Experience in transactional and litigation support for construction and development work.
  • Familiarity with industry form agreements such as AIA and similar forms.
  • Preferably admitted to the VA Bar, with prior experience in litigation or arbitration matters.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Good business judgment and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including persuasive and influential communication styles.
  • Demonstrated research, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
