Job Title: Litigation Attorney

Job Overview: A distinguished law firm based in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join their team. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for legal professionals to work in a dynamic environment focused on insurance defense litigation. The ideal candidate will be expected to contribute to all phases of litigation, from case initiation to expert discovery, and provide comprehensive legal counsel across diverse practice areas such as General Liability, Professional Liability, and Healthcare.

Duties:

• Represent clients in various phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, and expert testimony.
• Prepare and attend court appearances, hearings, and case management conferences.
• Conduct in-depth legal research and manage discovery investigations.
• Draft and review legal documents, including discovery requests, responses, motions, case summaries, and settlement agreements.
• Communicate closely with clients, providing regular updates and legal advice.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and manage client expectations.

Requirements:

• Must be barred in Pennsylvania (PA), with preference for candidates also barred in West Virginia (WV).
• 0-2 years of litigation experience, ideally in areas such as General Liability, Professional Liability, Healthcare, or Labor and Employment.
• Familiarity with both federal and state rules of civil procedures.
• Proficient in legal research tools and software (Lexis) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active PA Bar membership is required.

Certifications:

• Admission to practice law in Pennsylvania is required.
• West Virginia Bar admission is a plus.

Skills:

• Strong writing and organizational abilities.
• Capable of working in a high-demand, fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in legal research tools (Lexis) and Microsoft Office suite.
