A law firm seeks an experienced Patent Prosecution Associate to join its team in New York. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience in patent prosecution, with a specific focus on areas such as computer science, artificial intelligence, radar systems, drones, business methods, semiconductor manufacturing, and mechanical systems. This role requires a candidate with a strong technical background, expertise in drafting and prosecuting complex patent applications, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Duties

  • Draft and prosecute complex patent applications, ensuring compliance with legal and client standards.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, clients, and professionals to ensure efficient handling of patent matters.
  • Conduct patentability assessments, manage client portfolios, and navigate office actions.
  • Guide patent strategy and help clients protect their intellectual property assets.
  • Stay informed on the latest developments in technology and patent law, applying this knowledge to client work.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of experience in patent prosecution, with a focus on drafting and filing patent applications.
  • Strong background in patent law, with experience in one or more technical areas: computer science, artificial intelligence, radar systems, drones, business methods, semiconductor manufacturing, or mechanical systems.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Degree or advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).

Certifications

  • Admission to the Patent Bar and a State Bar (required).
