A law firm seeks a dedicated and skilled Immigration Attorney to join its team in San Antonio. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 1-5 years of experience in immigration law to focus on EOIR-related cases, including removal proceedings and family-based petitions. As an EOIR Attorney, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of immigration cases, interacting with clients, and working closely with the legal team to develop case strategies. This role offers significant growth potential and the chance to expand your legal expertise within a supportive and dynamic firm environment.

Duties:

  • Provide clear and effective legal counsel to clients on immigration matters.
  • Represent both detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring cases are progressing efficiently and deadlines are met.
  • Conduct client intake interviews with detained individuals and provide strategic advice.
  • Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and other relevant filings.
  • Review and analyze immigration packets and make necessary adjustments for compliance and completeness.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, government agencies, and community organizations regarding changes in immigration law and policy.
  • Provide consultation services to potential clients, developing tailored strategies based on individual case circumstances.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and testimony before USCIS.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs and motions in support of various immigration cases.
  • Maintain thorough records of client interactions and case developments, utilizing case management software.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on EOIR-related matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward efficiently.
  • Familiarity with family-based immigration petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, and USCIS applications.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with case management software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop creative solutions.
  • Experience in preparing clients and witnesses for legal proceedings.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail in managing case documentation.
