Job Overview:

A law firm based in Oak Park, IL is currently seeking a passionate and driven Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic legal team. Duties:

• Deliver tailored legal guidance and strategic solutions for complex immigration matters

• Handle proceedings before immigration courts and appellate bodies, including representation of individuals facing removal

• Oversee all aspects of case preparation and management

• Conduct visits and intake interviews at detention centers

• Draft and file a variety of immigration petitions and applications, with a focus on family-based and removal defense cases

• Evaluate application materials for completeness and legal sufficiency

• Collaborate with external stakeholders, including law enforcement and community organizations, regarding legal updates and procedures

• Conduct initial consultations to assess eligibility and define case strategy

• Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS interviews

• Draft persuasive legal briefs and supporting documentation for case advocacy

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois

• 1-4 years of experience in immigration law

• Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize an active caseload

• Proficient in client advocacy and legal writing

• Previous experience working with detained clients and removal defense preferred

• Familiarity with a broad range of immigration matters, including family petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR cases, naturalization, and USCIS filings

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Admission to the Illinois State Bar

Certifications:

• An active Illinois Bar License required

Skills:

• Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred

• High level of interpersonal communication and professionalism

• Strong legal research and writing capabilities

• Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to team support

• Competence in legal case management platforms (preferred)
