Job Overview:
A leading law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a skilled Patent Prosecution and Litigation Agent to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in intellectual property, with expertise in patent prosecution and experience in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar disciplines. The role involves providing strategic patent prosecution and litigation support for cutting-edge technologies.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications, including providing technical analysis and writing detailed legal documents.
• Work closely with attorneys and clients to develop patent strategies.
• Prepare responses to office actions and communicate with the USPTO.
• Handle patent portfolio management and provide support for patent litigation efforts.
• Collaborate with engineers and clients to understand technology and ensure patent claims are aligned with product development.
• Review and analyze existing patents to identify potential risks and opportunities.

Requirements:

• 3-6 years of patent prosecution experience, including application drafting.
• Proven technical background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in design engineering within the semiconductor or technology sectors is a plus.
• Must be admitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Demonstrated ability to draft and prosecute patent applications.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts in a clear, understandable manner.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field (advanced degrees preferred).

Certifications:

• Must be registered with the USPTO.

Skills:

• Patent prosecution and litigation experience.
• Proficiency in handling complex technical and legal matters.
• Familiarity with 3G/4G/5G wireless networks or other networking technologies is desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
