Job Overview: A prominent law firm is seeking a skilled Senior Immigration Attorney to join its team in Bakersfield, CA. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced immigration attorney to further advance their career in a dynamic and supportive environment. As part of an established legal team, you will manage your caseload, work closely with clients, and collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff on a variety of immigration matters.

Duties:

• Advise clients on complex immigration issues and provide strategic legal solutions.
• Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
• Manage a diverse caseload of immigration cases from start to finish.
• Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at immigration detention centers.
• Prepare and submit various immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and humanitarian requests.
• Review and adjust immigration application packets as necessary to ensure completeness and compliance.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to discuss changes in immigration law and policy.
• Meet with prospective clients for strategic consultations to determine the best course of action.
• Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and USCIS testimony.
• Analyze and advise clients on potential legal benefits related to their cases.
• Prepare and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration-related matters.

Requirements:

• 5-8 years of experience in Immigration Law.
• Proven ability to handle a caseload independently and move legal cases forward.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, though not required.
• Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian applications, EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) proceedings, detained cases, and citizenship applications.
• Familiarity with case management software is a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active member in good standing with the State Bar of California.

• In-depth knowledge of immigration law and procedures.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex legal cases and prioritize multiple tasks.
