Job Overview: A law firm in Houston, TX is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will assist in representing clients in various immigration matters, providing legal counsel, and preparing necessary documentation for immigration applications and court proceedings.

Job Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings at the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a workload of immigration cases, ensuring timely and effective representation.
  • Visit and conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at immigration detention centers.
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including but not limited to removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review immigration application packets and make necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients to assess case needs and develop appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court testimony before USCIS or immigration courts.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to determine potential case benefits and risks.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs and documentation for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1 year of Immigration Law Experience preferred.
  • Team player with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward efficiently.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas or eligibility for admission by waiver or examination.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide sound legal advice.
  • Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
