Job Overview:

A respected law firm in Fort Lauderdale, FL, seeks a dedicated Associate Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with clients, manage a diverse caseload, and collaborate closely with fellow attorneys and legal assistants on complex immigration cases. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong commitment to advocating for clients’ rights and navigating the intricacies of immigration law.

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent detained and non-detained individuals in the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Handle a diverse caseload and ensure timely case progress.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare various immigration applications, including those for removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration application packets as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law updates.
  • Meet with potential clients for consultations and devise effective legal strategies.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimonies.
  • Provide comprehensive legal analysis to assess potential case benefits.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in managing and advancing legal cases independently.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software (preferred).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in the state of Florida or eligibility for admission.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar license in the state of Florida.

Skills:

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (preferred).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and client-focused approach.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in legal documentation.
