General Liability/Civil Litigation Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm specializing in general liability and civil litigation defense is seeking a highly skilled General Liability/Civil Litigation Attorney to join their team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing complex litigation cases and representing clients in various legal proceedings.

Job Duties:

• Gather and analyze medical evidence and records pertinent to cases.
• Conduct depositions of plaintiffs, physicians, experts, and other parties.
• Manage discovery processes efficiently and effectively.
• Perform comprehensive legal research and stay updated with legal developments.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, opinions, and other legal documents.
• Represent clients or insurers at hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, and other legal proceedings.
• Communicate regularly with claims representatives regarding case developments.
• Assist in investigating and analyzing accidents and potential claims.
• Manage costs to minimize liability exposure for clients.
• Prepare and submit required reports to company management.
• Coordinate and participate in claims reviews as necessary.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients and insurance carriers.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and admission to the Illinois Bar.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in general liability and civil claims defense in Illinois.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in general liability and civil claims defense in Illinois.
• Portable business is a plus.
• Strong understanding of legal principles and practices.
• Profound knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Excellent legal research skills and familiarity with legal terminology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word; experience with Time Matters or similar legal software preferred.
• Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and research abilities.
• Outstanding attention to detail with the ability to multitask effectively.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong organizational, planning, and dependability traits.
