Job Overview:
An established law firm in Oak Brook is seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join its family law team. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling family law matters independently, including dissolution of marriages, parental responsibilities, and post-decree modifications. This position provides an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a dynamic and expanding law firm.

Duties:

  • Independently handle a caseload involving family law matters, including discovery, allocation of parental responsibilities, dissolution of marriages, post-decree modifications, and orders of protection.
  • Work collaboratively with other attorneys to manage cases and client interactions.
  • Represent clients in hearings and proceedings, including state and federal court, with a focus on family law issues.
  • Conduct legal research and draft necessary legal documents, including motions and responses.
  • Provide advice and guidance to clients, ensuring they understand the legal processes and options available to them.
  • Ability to manage cases involving Hague Convention matters in both state and federal court (preferred).
  • Prepare and execute trial strategies for family law cases, with trial experience being a plus.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in family law (preferred).
  • Experience handling a wide range of family law cases, including dissolution of marriage, parental responsibilities, post-decree modifications, and orders of protection.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Trial experience is a plus, with the ability to conduct hearings independently preferred.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.
  • Federal court licensure is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the Illinois State Bar.
