A law firm seeks an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join its growing team in Orange, California. Duties:

  • Provide expert legal guidance and develop strategic solutions for clients facing immigration challenges.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), focusing on both detained and non-detained cases.
  • Handle a varied caseload of immigration matters, including family-based petitions, removal defense, humanitarian relief, and citizenship applications.
  • Conduct intakes and site visits at detention centers to assess the legal options for detained individuals.
  • Review, revise, and prepare immigration applications and petitions, ensuring compliance with immigration laws.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations on immigration-related issues and updates to the law.
  • Meet with prospective clients for consultations, develop legal strategies, and determine the best approach to their immigration issues.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances, USCIS interviews, and other legal proceedings.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs and motions for a variety of immigration cases.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, keeping them informed of case progress and potential outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal matters efficiently.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated success in handling a broad spectrum of immigration cases, including family-based petitions, removal defense, humanitarian cases, and USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software and other legal tools is preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment while taking ownership of individual responsibilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the state bar (California) or eligibility to practice in California.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law, including deportation defense, family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, and USCIS processes.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent client management and communication skills, with a client-focused approach to legal services.
  • Proven track record of handling complex legal matters and managing a high caseload.
  • Experience with legal software and immigration-specific case management tools.
  • Ability to prepare persuasive legal briefs, motions, and other documents.
