A law firm in Raleigh, NC is seeking a highly skilled Litigation Associate Attorney with a background in medical negligence, premises and product liability, or comparable complex torts practice. The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, excellent legal abilities, and significant experience in litigation, including taking and defending depositions and arguing motions in court.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex torts issues, including medical negligence, premises liability, and product liability.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Take and defend fact and expert witness depositions.
  • Represent clients at hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Manage discovery processes and coordinate document production.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, and courts.
  • Assist in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Maintain case files and ensure deadlines are met.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar in good standing.
  • 3+ years of litigation experience in medical negligence, premises liability, product liability, or related complex torts practice.
  • Excellent academic credentials (top 25% of class preferred).
  • Strong writing and research skills.
  • Experience with taking and defending depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
  • Proven ability to argue motions effectively in court.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience in a law firm environment handling complex tort litigation.
  • Knowledge of local court rules and procedures in North Carolina.
  • Familiarity with electronic discovery tools and document management systems.
