  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support patent prosecution and strategy.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide legal advice on intellectual property matters.
  • Assist in patent due diligence, including preparing opinions on patentability, freedom to operate, and infringement.
  • Prepare and review patent-related documentation, including claims, specifications, and drawings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legal and technical developments in intellectual property and life sciences.
  • Participate in client meetings, technology transfer activities, and strategic discussions related to intellectual property.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar and USPTO Patent Bar membership.
  • 2-5 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm setting.
  • Strong background in one of the following fields: cell or molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cancer biology, pharmacology, biophysics, or digital health-focused disciplines, or biomedical, mechanical, or chemical engineering.
  • Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemical compositions, and software is preferred.

Education:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar.
  • USPTO Patent Bar membership.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in patent prosecution and intellectual property law.
