Job Overview

A well-established litigation law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with experience in insurance defense and insurance coverage for its Kansas City office. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in all phases of litigation and possess the ability to handle complex insurance-related cases both independently and as part of a team.

Location

Duties

• Manage case files throughout the litigation process, independently and collaboratively.
• Conduct thorough fact investigations.
• Handle document productions and other discovery tasks.
• Prepare witnesses for depositions and participate in taking and defending depositions.
• Draft pleadings, briefs, and motions.
• Review and analyze policies, contracts, and other relevant legal documents.
• Prepare for and attend court hearings, including oral arguments on motions.
• Support trial preparations and actively participate in trials, including direct and cross-examinations.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of experience in insurance defense and insurance coverage litigation.
• Licensed to practice law in Missouri and Kansas; additional licensure in Arkansas is preferred.
• Strong ability to work independently on complex cases.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in Missouri and Kansas; additional licensure in Arkansas is advantageous.
