Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, submit, and review immigration applications such as family-based petitions, humanitarian relief (e.g., VAWA, U visa, T visa), and removal defense strategies.
  • Represent clients before USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services), EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review), and BIA (Board of Immigration Appeals).
  • Coordinate legal strategies and case management with team members.
  • Manage various case filings and deadlines effectively.
  • Draft and edit briefs, cover letters, and other case-related documents for submission to USCIS and immigration courts.
  • Conduct legal research on complex immigration issues and stay updated on relevant statutes and judicial decisions.
  • Monitor legislative changes that impact immigration law and advise clients accordingly.
  • Maintain compliance with ethical standards and legal requirements.
  • Navigate cultural differences and effectively communicate with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Continuously learn and stay informed about developments in immigration law and related areas.
  • Advise clients on the business and financial aspects of their cases as needed.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active Bar license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing immigration law, with experience in humanitarian relief applications preferred.
  • Additional languages such as Haitian-Creole, Spanish, or Portuguese are a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research tools.
