Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a full-time associate attorney to contribute to its thriving practice focusing on the representation of special districts, community development entities, and local governmental bodies. This role involves comprehensive legal support for public sector clients, requiring a versatile legal professional with a strong interest in municipal and administrative law. The position is open through a legal recruitment agency assisting in the hiring process on behalf of the firm.

Duties:

  • Serve as legal counsel at board meetings for special districts and local government entities

  • Prepare, analyze, and negotiate legal documents including:

    • Interagency agreements

    • Construction and service contracts

    • Resolutions and public notices

  • Provide legal interpretations on compliance with Florida Statutes relevant to special purpose districts

  • Advise on matters concerning:

    • Florida’s Government-in-the-Sunshine Law

    • State Ethics Code

    • Public Records Law

    • Competitive bidding and procurement laws

  • Draft and review documents connected to public infrastructure financing

  • Assist in the validation and issuance of tax-exempt and other municipal bonds

Requirements:

  • An active member in good standing with The Florida Bar

  • Minimum of 2 years of legal experience, preferably in:

    • Local government law

    • Special districts

    • Public finance or municipal representation

  • Strong drafting, research, and public speaking skills

  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload with professionalism and autonomy

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the State of Florida

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of Florida administrative and statutory frameworks

  • Clear and confident oral communication

  • Strong legal writing and analytical capabilities

  • Experience working with public or quasi-public clients

  • Professionalism and comfort in formal governmental settings
