Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking talented and driven attorneys to join their litigation team as Special Counsel. This full-time, non-partner track position is focused on supporting the firm’s construction practice group and managing a diverse portfolio of litigation matters. While the firm’s preferred location is Tampa, candidates based in Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando, or Tallahassee will also be considered. Duties:

• Handle a variety of complex litigation matters with a particular focus on construction disputes, insurance claims, and design defect cases.
• Manage high-volume caseloads with minimal supervision, demonstrating an ability to prioritize and stay organized.
• Conduct legal research and draft comprehensive motions, pleadings, and discovery documents.
• Represent clients in arbitration and mediation proceedings, as well as in court hearings.
• Argue motions and engage in depositions, with opportunities for trial involvement.
• Coordinate and collaborate with paralegals and support staff to manage case preparation and trial support.
• Assist in developing strategies for case resolution and settlement negotiations.

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of relevant litigation experience, with a focus on construction, insurance claims, or design defect matters.
• Strong track record in legal research, drafting legal documents and preparing for and arguing motions in court.
• Experience in arbitration and mediation processes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a busy caseload and work independently.
• Experience in managing teams of paralegals and support staff is a plus.
• Proven organizational and time management skills to effectively handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing with the Florida Bar.

Certifications:

• Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in Florida.

Skills:

• Exceptional legal research and writing skills.
• Strong oral advocacy and negotiation abilities.
• Proficient in managing complex litigation files from inception through resolution.
• Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
