Associate Attorney needed for Troy office

A law firm in Troy, MI is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join their team. The role requires managing a diverse range of tasks, including drafting organizational documents and policies, advising clients on corporate governance, negotiating contracts, reviewing mission-related investments, and providing legal research and advice on tax compliance. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, motivated, and have a strong interest in the nonprofit sector.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Draft and review organizational documents, policies, and procedures for clients.
• Advise clients on corporate governance issues and best practices.
• Negotiate and draft contracts and other legal agreements.
• Review and provide counsel on mission-related investments and financial transactions.
• Conduct legal research and offer advice on tax compliance and related matters.
• Manage and prioritize multiple legal tasks and projects efficiently.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, especially nonprofit organizations.
• Stay updated on legal developments and trends in corporate governance and tax law.

Requirements:

• 3-6 years of experience in corporate and/or tax transactional matters.
• Experience advising or working with nonprofit organizations is preferred.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership with the Michigan State Bar.
• Strong interest in the nonprofit sector.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication abilities.
