A law firm seeks an experienced and motivated Family Law Associate Attorney to join its Columbus office. This full-time role focuses on domestic relations cases and offers an exciting opportunity for career growth and professional development. Duties

  • Handle a caseload of 25-35 domestic relations cases, managing them autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients regarding family law matters, including divorce, custody, and child support.
  • Manage initial client consultations and convert potential clients into retained clients.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including petitions, motions, and other court filings.
  • Attend hearings, depositions, and trials, advocating for clients in family law matters.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including a billing department, legal assistant, and reception staff, to ensure efficient case management.
  • Participate in the firm’s mentorship program during the first year to build skills and establish a foundation for long-term growth.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in family law, specifically handling domestic relations cases.
  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the Ohio Bar.
  • Ability to manage a high caseload independently while maintaining attention to detail and delivering exceptional client service.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to grow professionally and advance through a clear partnership track.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Ohio Bar, in good standing.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Ohio family law, including divorce, child custody, and related matters.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Excellent client service and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in handling legal matters.
