A reputable law firm is seeking a mid-level Intellectual Property Associate for its Intellectual Property practice group in one of several office locations. This position requires a professional with 3 to 5 years of substantive patent litigation experience, ideally with a technical background or relevant experience in related fields. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to work on high-profile intellectual property cases across various industries, collaborating with a team of experts to help bring groundbreaking innovations to market.

Location:

  • Richmond, VA

Duties:

  • Provide legal representation in patent litigation cases.
  • Advise clients on intellectual property development, acquisition, management, and monetization.
  • Work closely with clients across multiple industries, including healthcare, technology, and mechanical innovations.
  • Handle matters before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
  • Collaborate with attorneys, patent agents, and professionals in the field to develop strategies that protect client inventions and innovations.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of substantive patent litigation experience.
  • PTAB experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property law and related litigation practices.
  • Ability to manage and work on complex cases in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the applicable state(s).
  • Admission to the Patent Bar is desirable but not required.

Skills:

  • Technical expertise or significant experience in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members effectively.
