A law firm in San Francisco is seeking a Land Use and Environmental Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience, ideally in litigation, including writ-based litigation under the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") and California housing laws, and traditional environmental litigation. The ideal candidate should have experience with regulatory counseling under various state and federal environmental laws, as well as experience with land use entitlements, including brownfield redevelopment and CEQA analyses. Candidates with transferrable skills, such as strong litigation experience but less experience with land use and environmental work, will also be considered. Strong academic background, excellent research and writing skills, and admission to the California Bar are required.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation in regulatory counseling under various state and federal environmental laws.
  • Handle land use entitlements, including brownfield redevelopment and CEQA analyses.
  • Participate in litigation, including writ-based litigation under CEQA and California housing laws, and traditional environmental litigation.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and prepare case strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and opposing counsel.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and participate in case discussions and strategy sessions.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 2-5 years of experience, ideally in litigation, including writ-based litigation under CEQA and California housing laws, and traditional environmental litigation.
  • Admission to the California Bar.
  • Strong academic background.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the California Bar.

 

Skills:

  • Experience with regulatory counseling under environmental laws.
  • Experience with land use entitlements.
  • Strong litigation experience, including writ-based litigation under CEQA and California housing laws, and traditional environmental litigation.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
