Associate Attorney Defense Base Act

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Boca Raton, FL office. This role involves handling a docket of Defense Base Act (DBA) claims while providing exceptional legal services and maintaining strong client relationships. Duties

• Manage a caseload of Defense Base Act claims, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
• Draft petitions, motions, pleadings, and discovery documents.
• Communicate effectively with clients, the Department of Labor, and opposing counsel regarding case updates and developments.
• Review, analyze, and summarize claims-related documents, including medical records, incident reports, and employment files.
• Prepare detailed and timely reports for clients on case status and key issues.
• Participate in conferences with the Department of Labor to address case-related concerns.
• Take and defend depositions, as well as make court appearances when necessary.
• Collaborate closely with a team of attorneys to promote teamwork and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Experience handling Defense Base Act claims or similar legal matters.
• Strong background in drafting legal documents, conducting discovery, and litigating cases.
• Exceptional ability to communicate clearly and concisely with clients and team members.
• Demonstrated ability to think critically and develop strategic approaches to complex cases.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.
