Job Overview
A reputable law firm is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Patent Agent to join its dynamic Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group. The firm’s focus is on candidates with expertise in electrical engineering, software, or mechanical engineering fields. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in patent prosecution, application drafting, and the intricacies of IP law. Duties

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in the areas of electrical engineering, software, or mechanical engineering
• Conduct patentability assessments and provide legal counsel on IP strategy
• Prepare legal briefs, responses to office actions, and other documents required for patent prosecution
• Collaborate with attorneys and clients to manage and strengthen patent portfolios
• Support litigation efforts related to patent infringement and other intellectual property disputes
• Maintain and update client communications regarding the status of ongoing matters
• Stay updated on industry trends, laws, and technologies related to patent prosecution and litigation

Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution
• Strong experience with application drafting and filing with the USPTO
• Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field such as mathematics or physics
• Registered with the USPTO as a Patent Agent
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Familiarity with additional forms of intellectual property law is a plus

Education

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related technical field

Certifications

• USPTO Registration required
