A law firm in Bakersfield, CA, is seeking an Entry-level Immigration Attorney to join their Immigration Team. The successful candidate will report to the Managing Immigration Attorney and will manage their own caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. This position is perfect for a recent law school graduate with a strong interest in immigration law and a desire to start their legal career in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic legal solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases with guidance and support.
  • Visit and conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and make necessary adjustments to immigration applications and supporting documents.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law updates and changes.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic consultations to determine appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential benefits and strategies for immigration cases.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various types of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar admission in California or pending (law graduates awaiting admission will also be considered).
  • Demonstrated interest in immigration law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in the state of California or pending.

Skills:

  • Basic understanding of immigration law and procedures.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent client service and communication skills.
