Job Overview:
A law firm based in Dallas, TX is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Immigration Attorney to conduct legal analysis on immigration files received via Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. The role focuses on reviewing immigration histories and identifying relief options for clients, determining the next steps or potential case types. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in immigration law and possess strong research and analytical skills, while working in a high-volume environment.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal analysis of immigration files received through FOIA requests to determine potential relief and case options
  • Perform thorough screenings of client documents and histories to assess eligibility for immigration benefits or relief
  • Manage high-volume caseloads, ensuring efficient handling of multiple files and deadlines
  • Provide recommendations for next steps in legal cases and communicate findings clearly
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal staff for accurate, timely reviews
  • Stay updated on immigration laws and regulations relevant to the firm's areas of practice
  • Document findings and recommendations in an organized and clear manner for internal and client communication

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of immigration law experience
  • Strong research and analytical skills to assess complex legal documents and histories
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
  • Proven track record of managing caseloads and moving legal cases forward
  • Active Bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction
  • Familiarity with key immigration areas including family-based petitions, asylum, removal defense, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission in any U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex legal documents
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and client interaction skills
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software
