A law firm seeks an experienced Energy Associate Attorney to join its practice in Albany, New York. The ideal candidate will possess at least three years of experience and have a solid understanding of both New York and federal energy regulatory frameworks. This role provides an excellent opportunity to engage with complex legal matters in the energy sector.

Duties:

  • Participate in proceedings before state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Advise clients on intricate energy regulatory issues, including asset divestiture and acquisitions.
  • Represent clients in utility matters and before electric system operators.
  • Assist clients in evaluating various energy procurement options.
  • Engage in the development and siting of generation and transmission projects.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including power purchase agreements and asset sale agreements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the energy practice.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a law firm, government, corporate setting, or a comparable regulatory environment.
  • Admitted to practice law in New York.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active New York Bar license.

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research and analysis within the energy sector.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation skills to manage contracts and agreements.
