This position offers the opportunity to work on both patent prosecution and litigation matters, specializing in the electrical engineering & software or mechanical engineering sectors. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in handling patent applications, drafting, and prosecuting patents with a focus on technology and innovation.

Duties:

  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications in the electrical or mechanical engineering fields.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel to clients on patent prosecution and litigation matters.
  • Represent clients in patent litigation, including preparation for trial and post-grant proceedings.
  • Conduct patentability searches and opinions, providing clients with actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Manage and resolve patent disputes in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with trends in patent law, technology advancements, and applicable legal frameworks.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of hands-on experience in patent prosecution, with a strong focus on application drafting.
  • A degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience with intellectual property beyond patents is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Highly organized, with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Barred in Massachusetts.
  • Must be registered with the USPTO.

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or related field is required.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration is mandatory.
