Immigration Attorney

A respected law firm in Sacramento, CA is seeking a motivated Associate Immigration Attorney to join its growing legal team. This position offers the opportunity to handle a wide range of immigration matters, including removal defense and family-based petitions. Duties

• Represent both detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals

• Conduct intakes, including on-site visits to detention centers

• Provide legal consultations and explain immigration concepts to clients

• Prepare and submit immigration applications including family-based petitions and defensive filings

• Review and edit application packets to ensure completeness and compliance

• Draft and file legal briefs, motions, and supporting documentation

• Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS appearances

• Stay informed on changes in immigration law and engage with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community-based organizations as needed

• Manage personal caseload while collaborating with attorneys and legal support staff

Requirements

• 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law

• Proven ability to manage a caseload and meet court and USCIS deadlines

• Comfortable collaborating in a team-oriented environment

• Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, detained cases, and EOIR proceedings

• Familiarity with USCIS procedures and removal defense

• Experience using immigration case management software preferred

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in any U.S. state (in good standing)
