A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a Senior Immigration Attorney to join their dynamic team. The Senior Immigration Attorney will report to the Managing Immigration Attorney, manage a substantial caseload, and interact with clients. The role requires extensive experience in immigration law, a strong ability to manage complex cases, and collaboration with a skilled team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Managing Immigration Attorney, overseeing an assigned caseload and handling client interactions.
  • Explain complex immigration concepts to clients and provide strategic legal solutions.
  • Represent both non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a diverse workload of immigration cases, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers to gather necessary case information.
  • Prepare and file a wide range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and amend immigration applications/packets to ensure compliance with legal requirements and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to address changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients to conduct strategic immigration consultations and formulate appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop and implement strategies for court and USCIS testimonies, including preparing clients and witnesses.
  • Provide legal analysis to assess potential case benefits and prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
  • Utilize case management software to maintain organized case files and track case progress.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Proven track record of managing a caseload and advancing legal cases effectively.
  • Extensive experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS matters.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in California.

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law and procedural requirements.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle complex legal cases and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professionalism with a client-centered approach.
  • Proficiency in case management software is a plus.
