A law firm seeks a seasoned Litigation Attorney to join its Houston, TX office. This full-time, in-office position involves representing clients in state and federal court across a range of complex litigation matters, including construction disputes, contract law, intellectual property, and commercial cases. The role requires strong trial and courtroom skills, along with the ability to handle a fast-paced caseload. Occasional travel may be necessary.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in state and federal court proceedings, managing cases from initiation through resolution.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and trial briefs, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case strategy and ensure informed representation.
  • Advocate for clients in hearings, mediations, and trial proceedings, delivering effective and persuasive arguments.
  • Engage in mediation and, preferably, arbitration to resolve disputes outside of court when appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and legal team members to prepare for court proceedings and manage case timelines.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in litigation, including trial and courtroom practice.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills to support robust case preparation.
  • Ability to draft pleadings and handle hearings promptly as case requirements dictate.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for case obligations.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in Texas.

Skills:

  • Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw or similar platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective advocacy.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple cases and prioritize tasks.
  • Analytical skills to develop strategic case approaches in complex legal areas.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a demanding legal environment.
