Job Overview: A well-established law firm is seeking a motivated and experienced attorney to lead the Indiana practice, focusing on consumer and commercial debt collection, creditor bankruptcy matters, and replevins. The position offers the opportunity to manage a solo practice with the support of a dedicated paralegal and the firm's resources. The attorney will represent national and regional creditors throughout Indiana, with flexible work options including both in-office and remote work.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload focused on consumer and commercial debt collection for national and regional clients.
  • Review and approve pleadings, motions, and legal executions.
  • Handle cases involving collections, replevins, and bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Represent creditors in state and federal bankruptcy courts, including attending hearings and negotiating settlements.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, providing case updates and legal advice.
  • Attend court matters and represent clients in various legal proceedings.
  • Market legal services within the state to expand the business and generate new client relationships.
  • Participate in client audits and attend professional conferences.
  • Oversee the Indiana office with full support from the firm's established processes and resources.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in consumer and commercial debt collection.
  • Familiarity with FDCPA and compliance regulations set by the CFPB.
  • Licensed to practice law in Indiana. Additional licenses in other states are a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, a proactive work ethic, and a client-focused mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with BKFS and Tempo is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel for court appearances within Indiana.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Indiana.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, case management, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
