Job Overview:
A renowned law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Deposition Attorney to represent clients affected by asbestos exposure. This role involves case preparation, client and witness interviews, and depositions, with significant travel across the United States. Ideal candidates possess strong legal expertise, particularly in personal injury or asbestos-related cases, with a commitment to providing compassionate support to clients.

Location:

  • Edwardsville, IL

Duties:

  • Represent clients affected by asbestos exposure
  • Prepare asbestos disease cases in collaboration with a team
  • Conduct interviews with clients, potential clients, and witnesses both in-person and over the phone
  • Examine and analyze records, including Social Security, Medical, Military, and Union records, to gather case-relevant information
  • Conduct depositions of fact witnesses and summarize their testimony
  • Travel extensively across the U.S. to meet clients, witnesses, and other relevant parties (approximately 80% of the role)

Requirements:

  • 2-10 years of attorney experience, preferably in personal injury or asbestos-related cases
  • Licensed to Practice Law in Illinois
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed Attorney in the state of Illinois

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research, case sign-ups, deposition processes, and testimony preparation
  • Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook)
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, with effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to absorb and retain industrial and medical information relevant to cases
  • Compassionate and responsive to the needs of terminally ill clients, adaptable to their health status
