Immigration Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 1-4 years of experience in immigration law and will be responsible for representing individuals in various immigration proceedings, managing a diverse caseload, and working collaboratively with clients and legal partners.

Duties:

• Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
• Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Manage a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring timely and effective handling.
• Conduct intakes and visits with detained individuals at detention centers.
• Prepare and review immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
• Make necessary adjustments to immigration applications/packets.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
• Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and devise legal strategies.
• Develop case strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
• Provide legal analysis to clients to identify possible case benefits.
• Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

• 1-4 years of experience in immigration law.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward.
• Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, EOIR proceedings, Legal Writing, Detained Cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
• Experience with case management software preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the State Bar of California.
