This opportunity is ideal for a Michigan-licensed attorney who enjoys tackling the legal side of economic recovery, whether representing clients in distress or counseling them on strategic debt restructuring. The position is anchored in Warren, MI, and offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment with direct client impact.
Offer legal advice to clients facing financial strain, helping them chart a path through available relief frameworks.
Manage case files from start to finish, including court appearances, trustee meetings, and client consultations.
Draft and review filings, including petitions, financial schedules, and restructuring proposals tailored to client needs.
Navigate the procedural landscape of federal and Michigan-specific financial law with efficiency and attention to detail.
Advocate for client interests in adversarial settings, including negotiation with creditors and appearances before judges and trustees.
Maintain a sharp focus on deadlines, procedural compliance, and documentation accuracy.
Stay up to date on legal developments and emerging strategies related to insolvency, asset protection, and creditor negotiations.
Between 1 and 6 years of experience handling bankruptcy cases.
Strong oral advocacy and written communication abilities, with comfort appearing in court and managing motion practice.
Familiarity with electronic filing systems, financial disclosures, and creditor negotiation protocols.
Strategic thinker with empathy for clients in high-stress financial situations.
Highly organized and capable of balancing multiple active cases.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
Active license to practice law in the state of Michigan.
Additional coursework or certification in insolvency law or creditor-debtor relations is a plus.
