What the Role Involves

  • Navigate the procedural landscape of federal and Michigan-specific financial law with efficiency and attention to detail.

  • Advocate for client interests in adversarial settings, including negotiation with creditors and appearances before judges and trustees.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Between 1 and 6 years of experience handling bankruptcy cases.

  • Strong oral advocacy and written communication abilities, with comfort appearing in court and managing motion practice.

  • Familiarity with electronic filing systems, financial disclosures, and creditor negotiation protocols.

  • Strategic thinker with empathy for clients in high-stress financial situations.

  • Highly organized and capable of balancing multiple active cases.

Educational Requirements & Licensing

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.

  • Active license to practice law in the state of Michigan.

  • Additional coursework or certification in insolvency law or creditor-debtor relations is a plus.
