The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with both federal and state environmental laws, including environmental compliance, transactions, and litigation. This role requires the ability to manage complex environmental cases, particularly those involving sites under CERCLA, and necessitates strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Candidates should be self-motivated, personable, and collaborative, with excellent academic and professional credentials. Admission to practice law in Pennsylvania is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Litigation:
    Represent clients in environmental enforcement and litigation matters, focusing on both state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Guidance:
    Advise clients on environmental compliance and regulatory requirements, analyzing the impact of environmental statutes on their operations and projects.
  • Transactional Support:
    Provide legal counsel on the environmental aspects of corporate transactions, including due diligence, risk mitigation, and regulatory strategy.
  • Remediation Management:
    Handle cases involving the representation of clients managing sites that require remedial action under federal and state environmental laws, particularly CERCLA.
  • Legal Research and Writing:
    Conduct thorough legal research, prepare legal memoranda, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents with precision and clarity.
  • Client Relations:
    Maintain active communication with clients, providing updates and strategic advice on environmental issues and case developments.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with a team of attorneys and partners, contributing to case strategy, project management, and client relations.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • 2-3 years of experience in environmental litigation or environmental law is required.
  • Licensure:
    • Must be admitted to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Expertise:
    • In-depth knowledge of state and federal environmental laws, including CERCLA, environmental compliance, and regulatory enforcement.
  • Skills:
    • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to assess the application of environmental laws to various client issues.
    • Ability to manage environmental cases, particularly those involving remediation under CERCLA.
  • Attributes:
    • Self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to client service.
    • Excellent academic and professional credentials.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.)
    Must hold a J.D. from an accredited law school.
