Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a highly motivated and passionate attorney to join its family law team in Cedar Rapids, IA. The position offers a dynamic opportunity to represent clients in various family law matters, including divorce, legal separation, paternity actions, and estate planning. Duties:

  • Prepare and draft legal documents, pleadings, motions, judgments, and orders for family law cases
  • Handle communication with clients, court personnel, and opposing attorneys
  • Represent clients in court, appearing promptly for all assigned cases
  • Conduct witness interviews and prepare witnesses for testimony in court
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in the preparation of all legal documents
  • Manage all aspects of assigned cases, including legal research and case strategy
  • Perform administrative tasks such as organizing files, filing documents, and correspondence

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in Iowa
  • Experience in family law is preferred but not required
  • Ability to manage a high caseload and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent client management abilities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution

Certifications:

  • Active Iowa Bar license

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, and handling trial preparation
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent negotiation, advocacy, and client communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
