A respected law firm located in Victorville is currently seeking a dedicated Post-Conviction Relief Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in litigation or appellate work and will be responsible for handling post-conviction relief cases while working alongside a supportive team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to clients regarding their rights and legal matters, preparing relevant documentation.
  • Manage post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, motions to reduce, and early termination of probation.
  • Collaborate with the criminal and immigration law teams, addressing cases that may involve both areas of law.
  • Attend motion hearings on behalf of clients, advising them on strategies following each hearing.
  • Represent clients in open criminal cases, handling arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing on behalf of other attorneys in the firm.
  • Draft legal motions, conduct client interviews, manage court appearances, and perform necessary legal research.
  • Analyze case outcomes based on legal precedents and provide strategic counsel.
  • Efficiently manage a caseload, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are kept informed throughout the process.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in criminal defense or immigration law is preferred.
  • Proven experience in handling criminal cases, particularly at the state and local levels.
  • Strong team player with a willingness to collaborate and strategize with fellow associates.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the state of California.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of criminal defense and post-conviction relief procedures.
  • Experience in legal research, case analysis, and preparation of legal documents.
