Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a Commercial Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to join their San Diego, CA team. This position offers the opportunity to take a significant role in complex litigation matters with a growing and supportive team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in complex commercial litigation, with a specific focus on construction litigation and employment being a plus.

Duties:

  • Conducted legal research and wrote for complex commercial litigation cases.
  • Manage all aspects of written discovery, including electronic discovery.
  • Take and defend depositions, including Person Most Knowledgeable (PMK) and expert depositions.
  • Engage in mediation and trial preparations.
  • Represent clients in court and during negotiations.
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on case strategy and client communications.
  • Mentor junior associates and paralegals.
  • Participate in firm-wide initiatives and business development activities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in complex commercial litigation.
  • Specific experience in construction litigation and employment law is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in handling multiple facets of litigation.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in California.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Member in good standing of the California Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in electronic discovery tools and legal research databases.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management software.
