Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced litigation attorney for a Counsel-level role within its E-Discovery practice in New York. The position focuses on managing and advising clients on the full spectrum of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), including preservation, collection, review, and production of electronically stored information (ESI). This is a strategic opportunity for a seasoned legal professional to take a leadership role in a specialized practice serving major financial institutions and corporate clients.

Duties

  • Provide discovery counseling to corporate and financial services clients

  • Advise on all phases of the EDRM model, including data preservation, collection, review workflows, and production strategies

  • Manage large-scale document reviews, including oversight of technology-assisted review (TAR)

  • Coordinate closely with litigation teams on strategy, timelines, and discovery protocol compliance

  • Communicate with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and defensible discovery processes

  • Analyze and implement best practices for e-discovery cost management and data security

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in litigation with a focus on e-discovery

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and advise on complex discovery issues in high-stakes matters

  • Experience working with financial services or corporate clients preferred

  • Ability to manage large volumes of ESI and complex workflows

  • Comfortable working across offices and time zones in a collaborative legal team

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing with the New York State Bar

  • CEDS (Certified E-Discovery Specialist) certification is a plus, but not required

Skills

  • Deep understanding of the EDRM lifecycle and e-discovery technology tools

  • Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines under pressure

  • Proficiency in discovery platforms such as Relativity or equivalent

  • Familiarity with TAR, predictive coding, and defensible document review methodologies
