Senior Immigration Attorney

A law firm seeks an experienced and dedicated Senior Immigration Attorney to join its legal team in Sacramento, CA. Duties

• Advise clients on immigration policies, procedures, and potential case strategies.
• Represent both detained and non-detained clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Manage and oversee a diverse caseload, ensuring timely filings and effective case progression.
• Conduct intake assessments for detained individuals at immigration detention centers.
• Prepare and file various immigration applications, including removal defense petitions and family-based immigration requests.
• Review and refine immigration applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Engage with law enforcement, prosecutorial agencies, and community organizations regarding developments in immigration law.
• Conduct client consultations, assess eligibility for relief, and develop legal strategies.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS interviews.
• Draft and submit legal briefs, motions, and supporting documents for complex immigration cases.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing immigration law.
• Strong ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to case strategy discussions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high caseloads effectively and efficiently.
• Experience handling Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, Citizenship applications, and detained client representation.
• Familiarity with case management software is preferred.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing.

Certifications

• Must be a licensed attorney with an active bar membership.
