Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney for their Richmond location with the following responsibilities and qualifications:

Job Overview:

The Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney will specialize in advising and representing corporations, individuals, insurance companies, and self-insured entities in various litigation and pre-litigation matters. The role requires extensive trial and appellate experience in state and federal courts and administrative proceedings. The attorney will handle cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, policy coverage, product liability, aviation and transportation liability, premises liability, professional liability, fiduciary claims, shareholder disputes, contract actions, creditors’ rights, landlord-tenant claims, environmental claims, and similar areas.

Duties:

• Advise and represent clients in litigation and pre-litigation matters
• Conduct legal research and analysis
• Draft legal documents, pleadings, motions, and briefs
• Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and appellate proceedings
• Manage client relationships and communicate case updates effectively
• Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff

Requirements:

• Virginia State Bar licensure
• 3+ years of practice experience in commercial litigation
• Litigation experience in Virginia state courts (federal preferred)
• Mediation and arbitration experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based document management systems
• Exceptional research and writing skills
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills with careful attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and display initiative and good judgment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

Admission to the Virginia State Bar
