A reputable law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic immigration team. Location:

Duties:

  • Explain complex immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload and interact with clients regularly.
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at immigration centers.
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including family-based petitions and removal defense applications.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed.
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law updates.
  • Meet with potential clients for consultations, developing strategies for their immigration cases.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings or USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to determine potential benefits for clients' cases.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience in immigration law (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and move cases forward efficiently.
  • Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, EOIR, Detained Cases, Humanitarian Relief, USCIS applications, and Citizenship.
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law (or eligible to practice law) in the state of Texas.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in Texas (or eligible to sit for the Texas Bar exam).

Skills:

  • Strong communication and legal writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases.
  • Knowledge of immigration law and legal processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
