Job Title: Estate Planning Attorney

Job Overview: A reputable law firm located in Sacramento, CA, is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney. This position involves working closely with clients to develop comprehensive estate plans tailored to their unique needs. The role includes client consultations, drafting legal documents, and managing ongoing relationships to ensure estate plans are up-to-date and compliant with legal standards.

Duties:

  • Conduct consultations with prospective and current clients to assess their estate planning needs.
  • Develop and draft tailored estate planning documents based on client consultations.
  • Handle client engagement, including fee quoting and agreement processing.
  • Review and update existing estate plans for current and former clients.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
  • Manage tasks and deadlines using task management systems like Lawcus and Asana.
  • Review and finalize estate plans with clients, ensuring all legal and personal requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with affiliated financial advisors as needed, ensuring proper documentation is signed.
  • Keep detailed, accurate records of all client meetings, calls, and estate planning updates.
  • Participate in internal team meetings to discuss complex cases and ongoing planning projects.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning law.
  • Licensed attorney in the state of California.
  • Knowledge of state and federal tax laws related to estate planning.
  • Familiarity with estate planning software and task management tools.
  • Strong client service skills and ability to communicate complex legal concepts.
  • Advanced planning experience is highly preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • Certification as a specialist in Trusts, Wills, and Probate is preferred.

Certifications:

  • California State Bar License.
  • Notary Public Certification is preferred.
  • Trust, Wills, and Probate Specialist Certification is a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in estate planning terminology and concepts.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Experience with proofreading and grammar-checking legal documents.
  • High-level computer literacy, particularly with legal software.
  • Exceptional client service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
