Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced and resourceful Senior Labor and Employment Attorney to join its team in New York City. This role is designed for a self-directed legal professional with extensive experience in labor and employment law, including litigation and advisory services. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with partners and independently on complex client matters while benefiting from a flexible hybrid work arrangement.

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel to businesses on labor and employment issues, including workplace policies, employee discipline, terminations, leave management and restrictive covenants.
  • Represent clients in litigation related to discrimination, retaliation, trade secret misappropriation, and wage-and-hour violations.
  • Negotiate and draft agreements, including employment contracts and settlements.
  • Conducted internal investigations and assisted in developing practical solutions to sensitive workplace issues.
  • Handle labor union-related matters, including negotiations and compliance with prevailing wage regulations.
  • Collaborate with partners and other team members to deliver comprehensive client services.
  • Engage in legal research and draft persuasive pleadings, motions, and memoranda.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in labor and employment law, with substantial litigation experience.
  • Bar Admission: Active membership in the New York State Bar in good standing.
  • Proficiency: Proven ability to manage diverse legal matters, ideate practical solutions, and advise on strategic workplace policies.
  • Professional Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and experience interacting with judges, court staff, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in New York State.
