Attorney/Civil Litigator

Job Overview:
A dynamic law firm is seeking an experienced Civil Litigator to join its growing practice in the Richmond office. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a skilled attorney to take a lead role in case management, including depositions, motions practice, mediations, and trials in both state and federal courts throughout Virginia. The ideal candidate will have 4-8 years of litigation experience, strong legal writing skills, and exceptional client service capabilities.

Location:

• Richmond, Virginia

Duties:

• Manage and lead civil litigation cases from inception to resolution.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
• Conduct depositions, prepare and argue motions, and participate in mediations and trials.
• Provide exceptional legal advice and client service throughout case life cycles.
• Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Appear in state and federal courts throughout Virginia, handling trials and hearings.
• Oversee case strategy, management, and progress while ensuring deadlines are met.

Requirements:

• 4-8 years of litigation experience.
• Barred in Virginia; ideally, barred in DC and/or Maryland as well.
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage complex cases and take a lead role in case handling.
• Experience with depositions, motions practice, mediations, and trials.
• Exceptional client service skills and the ability to handle clients professionally.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Virginia State Bar required.
• Admission to the DC and/or Maryland Bar is a plus.
