Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Mid-Level Derivatives Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience. They should also have experience in derivatives enforcement and investigations, particularly concerning swap dealers, futures commission merchants, commodity pool operators, and commodity trading advisors. Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, resourcefulness, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships with clients and firm attorneys.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research on derivatives regulation, CEA, CFTC regulations, and SRO rules.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel on derivatives transactions, compliance, and regulatory matters.
  • Assist in the representation of clients in derivatives enforcement actions and investigations.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and regulatory filings.
  • Participate in client meetings, negotiations, and communications.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience as an attorney, preferably specializing in derivatives law.
  • Strong understanding of derivatives regulation, including the CEA, CFTC, and SRO rules.
  • Experience in derivatives enforcement and investigations is highly desirable.
  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
