Senior Immigration Attorney

A law firm seeks a Senior Immigration Attorney to join its team in Sacramento, California. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced attorney to manage a diverse caseload, represent clients in immigration matters, and collaborate with a highly skilled team. The ideal candidate will have strong immigration law experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for client service.

Duties:

• Advise clients on immigration law, providing strategic solutions tailored to their individual needs.
• Represent both detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Manage a varied caseload, ensuring each case progresses efficiently.
• Conduct intakes with detained clients and visit detention centers as needed.
• Prepare and file immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
• Review immigration applications and supporting documents to ensure compliance and make necessary adjustments.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to stay updated on changes in immigration law.
• Conduct client consultations, assess their needs, and develop tailored legal strategies.
• Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings or USCIS interviews.
• Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases, ensuring clear and compelling legal arguments.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in immigration law.
• Proven track record of managing a caseload and moving cases forward in a timely manner.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities, with the capacity to explain complex immigration issues clearly.
• Experience in Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, EOIR, Detained Cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS processes.
• Familiarity with case management software is preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the state bar in California.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in California.
