A law firm in San Antonio, Texas, is seeking an EOIR Immigration Attorney to join their dedicated Immigration Team. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload, interact directly with clients, and collaborate with attorneys and legal assistants. This role requires expertise in representing clients in removal proceedings and preparing various immigration-related applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring timely progress and effective case handling.
  • Explain complex immigration concepts to clients and provide strategic legal solutions.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers to gather information and assess case details.
  • Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and packets to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on updates and changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients to provide strategic consultations and determine the most effective legal strategy for their cases.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies for court and USCIS testimonies, including preparing clients and witnesses.
  • Provide thorough legal analysis to identify possible benefits and prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
  • Utilize case management software to organize and track case progress effectively.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in Immigration Law, with a focus on EOIR proceedings.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases efficiently.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS matters.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of immigration law and EOIR procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle complex legal cases and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
