A law firm seeks a passionate and driven Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its team in San Jose, CA. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a newly admitted attorney to gain valuable experience in immigration law while working within a well-established firm. Duties:

  • Provide expert advice on a wide range of immigration issues and craft personalized legal strategies for clients
  • Represent individuals, both detained and non-detained, in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a diverse caseload of immigration matters, ensuring each case is handled efficiently
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained clients at immigration facilities and develop a strategic approach for their cases
  • Prepare and file various immigration petitions, including family-based immigration and removal defense applications
  • Review and revise immigration petitions to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations to stay informed about changes in immigration law
  • Meet with potential clients to discuss their immigration needs, determine viable strategies, and provide legal guidance
  • Develop and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony at court or USCIS interviews
  • Provide legal analysis to identify possible benefits or outcomes for clients' cases
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for immigration cases, ensuring all arguments are clear and compelling

Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of experience in immigration law, including relevant internships or clinic work
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively while meeting deadlines and ensuring quality work
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex legal matters to clients
  • A proactive and team-oriented attitude, willing to collaborate with colleagues
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not mandatory
  • Experience with case management software is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission (candidates awaiting admission will also be considered)

Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong research and legal writing abilities
  • In-depth understanding of immigration law, including removal defense and family-based petitions
  • Proficient in the use of case management software and legal research tools
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to think critically and develop strategic legal solutions
